Play Baccarat

Baccarat, or baccara as it is sometimes known, has been played for centuries and baccarat has always had the image of a game for rich, stylish gamblers.

This perception was reflected in Ian Fleming's James Bond books, which were made into very successful fims, such as Casino Royale.

The original James Bond, played by Scottish actor Sean Connery, suited the lifestyle perfectly, and played Baccarat by one of its other names, the French Chemin de Fer. It is also know as Punto Banco, Faro and Basset.

James Bond, in his fantasy world, would seldom have heard the words "neuf a la banque", nine to the bank, which means the bank had won the hand, unless of course, the scene was being set for the suave spy to turn the situation round dramatically, leaving the baccarat table with someone carrying his large stacks of chips, and usually the stereotype gorgeous girl in the low cut dress who had caught his eye.

It is great to go to Monte Carlo or Las Vegas, of course, to experience the thrill of the baize baccarat tables, although most of us would benefit from a bit of practice playing baccarat online before we get there, to make sure we have the skills to break the bank.
